Few areas in Regia Anglorum have the ability to trump authenticity, but safety on the field is one such area. This is the preserve of the Master-at-Arms (or MaA), who has the final say on what war gear can and cannot be used on a Regia Anglorum battlefield. Before every training session and every battle, the MaA or one of his deputies will quality-check every weapon and every shield; watch out for potential damage to wargear which could pose a safety issue, and keep an eye on wargear authenticity for public facing shows.
